Return of the blogger

I’m finally trying to get back into the habit of blogging. I don’t have a lot to say, but I’m trying to get back into my healthy habits. They work when I do them, so I just need to get back on here and work the system.

I haven’t gotten my shit together enough to start running or lifting again, but I am recording my calories in my favorite trusty system.  And I’m making a concerted effort not to have to post embarrassing diet gaffs.  Right now, that’s as good as it gets for me.  A friend has conned me into running a 5K next month, so I am going to have to pull myself together soon.

I think I’ll try the ol’ eDiets bootcamp routine.  I did a bootcamp group thing on eDiets my one successful weightloss attempt.  You moved into your plan one week at a time, ramping up slowly.  Week One: Drink Water, Log Food. Week Two: Stay in Calorie range.  Week Three: Add cardio.  Week Four: Add strength. Week Five & Six: Keep it up.  And then you started another week.  There were points and challenges and stuff, but I think I’d rather stick with my simple goals. So my plan is:

April 8 – 12: Drink 64 oz Water everyday, Log all food.
April 13 – 19: Stay around (aka mas o menos 50 cals) 1200 calories a day. IF I run, I can add another 150 calories that day, after the run. Take my vitamins everyday.
April 20 – 27: Run every other day.
April 28 – May 4: Strength train or yoga for 30 minutes on non running days.  Add another 100 calories to those days. (So 1350 on running days, 1300 on others)
May 5 – 13: Keep it up!
May 14 – 18: Go to LA to visit Pregnant-Friend-Whose-Mother-Cooks-Excellent-Mexican-Food.  During the trip, the goal is to go on ONE run and do 10 min of yoga a day.  And make sensible choices without compromising the fact that I’m on VACATION!

Sadly, but importantly, this means NO BOOZE.  I love me a cold beer on a hot day or with nummy food, but I let it throw me off track too often.  I have to get used to diet Coke when going out with friends for “drinks” and iced tea with my dinners out, but it should be good for me.

I might also try going back to a once-a-week weigh in.  On Mondays.  I’ll weigh tomorrow b/c I don’t have an accurate weigh in for this week, but after that, I’m actually going to hide the scale and put it in the closet.

Wish me luck!

  1. Yay, you’re back!! Hey, if I get this job and move to Austin I am going to join the 24 hr gym. They have all these cool looking cardio dance classes (and yoga) after I get out of work so I won’t have to wake up at 5 to exercise. Wanna join with me? I checked out their schedule & everything. Of course, this all depends on if i get a job…
