Weekly Recap, Favorite Posts
This week’s recap is a little skewed. I made a BIG mistake and went to one of those 8 hour epic happy hours with Marc’s coworkers, which resulted in a full 14 hour hangover. Note to self: Do not attempt to keep up with the boys when drinking beer on an empty stomach.
Saturday: Rocked it nutritionally. Rocked the exercise by doing an hour of gardening. Bonus is that the bushes in the front yard look great. The nasty cold definitely made me cranky, but I stuck with it and didn’t over eat or skip doing anything healthy.
Sunday: I took my “rest” day today. We took the dogs to the dog park and hiked around there for a while, bought a mountain bike for me with the xmas money and I worked on painting in the kitchen so I was up and about all day. I went over my calories, but only by 200 cals. Also, I hate having a cold.
Monday: I worked out with Marc, doing about 30 minutes of weights in the living room. I also did my cardio by gardening. This cold is a terror. It actually killed some of my appetite today, so I ended up only eating 1000 calories. That’s not healthy, so I’ll make more of an effort to eat on a schedule when I’m sick.
Tuesday: **BAD DECISION ALERT** I woke up late, spent a lot of time running errands. So by 4 pm, I’d only had 400 calories. And then Marc asked me to come to an impromptu happy hour with the guys from his office. I started off well – resisted the urge to get super yummy high calorie beer and instead had a lite beer. Also resisted the urge to eat any bar food, which was probably NOT a good decision in the long run. Once we began the bar hop to the next place, I switched over to whiskey and diet. Also a stupid idea.
Wednesday: I paid for my bad decision today. Ouch all day. Didn’t work out, but I didn’t overeat. Super lazy day.
Thursday: Did well on my food today – made my favorite old eDiets recipe of Sesame Beef & Rice – recipe will appear on the recipe page a little later tonight. I ROCKED the fitness stuff – took Isis for a run, then “romped” with Bailey for a while longer. Did my lifting with M this evening while watching the national championship. M talked me into drinking a glass of red wine, which I turned into two glasses.
I didn’t drink any more though, so that was good.
Friday: Had my internship interview today! Along with my whole success builds on success theme, I did well after having a good interview this morning all the way through dinner. I went on my first bike ride today! My legs are going to be super super super sore tomorrow. I still have 100 cals left today and need to do some weights. I’m going to have a hard time sticking to the nutrition requirement, but I’m focusing on a good post I saw this week from Roni’s Weigh and remembering that “Hunger is not an Emergency.”
I loose lots of points for screwing up with happy hour, but I didn’t let that lead to a spiral of bad behavior. On the other hand, I lost weight this week through a hangover diet, which is a terrible idea. Um…I’m trying to decide between a C- and a B+. Let me know if you have an opinion on that and I’ll go with consensus.

ETOH, Weekly Recap, progress
Great recovery after happy hour! I really do think it’s the getting back on track that matters more in the long haul than screwing up in the first place. (Who doesn’t screw up sometimes?)
And thanks for mentioning the Functional Fitness post!
I like how you don’t seem to be beating yourself up over the happy hour. It happens, just got to keep marching forward. If you can stay really good at writing up these recaps you are bound to have fewer slips.
Thanks for the support! The I try and write a little of the recap every couple days so I don’t conveniently forget my mistakes.
And I didn’t have to beat myself up about happy hour – my liver “explained” to me how unhappy it was. I had a big 12 hour birthday bash on Saturday and just remembering the debacle from Tuesday kept me in line.
