Weekly Recap, Favorite Posts
I’m going to start doing a weekly recap on Fridays – hopefully that’ll keep me going into the weekend with a good attitude. So …. here goes!
Monday: Looking back, I guess there wasn’t enough food in the schedule for this day. I had planned 1280 calories, but was STARVING at night. I had a big bowl of air popped popcorn, with NOTHING on it. That is some dull food, but it filled me up. Fitness-wise, I went on a run, did the upper body lift routine and a quick Pilates abs routine.
Tuesday: I didn’t get out of bed until after 3pm (holy crap!) so it wasn’t hard to stay in my calorie range for the day. I ended up staying up all night moving the blog over to the selfhosted http://fit.bethlin.com. Getting the theme right – or mostly right – was way harder than I thought. I sucked fitness-wise – was in a funk and didn’t go to the gym or do anything at home.
Wednesday: The upside of getting no sleep is that my day is full of productive time – I got my run in and ate well. The downside is that I don’t loose weight. I did keep up the nutrition goals until dinner. I have Sunday planned as a “free day” but decided to do some adjusting this week to account for the holiday. I got a “free day” dinner – went to the sports bar and had a couple beers and some unhealthy dip and nachos. I just let myself enjoy it, but didn’t go crazy and eat or drink more than I wanted. I went home around 8pm and started to feel like I had a fever, so I went to bed early. Marc woke me up for the ball drop, then I fell back asleep.
Thursday: Woke up at noon feeling like total crap. Fever, seriously swollen tonsils, just crappy. I didn’t do anything today, but I ate within limits. That was my accomplishment – I didn’t let an evening of drinking and nummy bar food combine with “I’m sick” self-pity to create a nutrition bomb. And I went upstairs and tried to get to sleep at a reasonable hour.
Friday: Woke up around 11 – not great, but getting better. Felt SOOOOOO much better today! So far, I’m on top of my food goals and already went on my run. I added 10 minutes to the run to give Bailey some play time even though I didn’t get my planned strength workout in. I’m planning to get out in the front yard a little and maybe working on paint behind the fridge in the kitchen. That should still get me some upper body work. I also started following the suggestions for getting “back” into weight loss blogging by reading and commenting on some other blogs.
Overall: I still lost weight this week, I got back into running and I didn’t let one evening out ruin the progress. All of that results in a B+ week.
(To get an A+, I would have to eat “perfectly”, met every work out goal and done something else “extra.” )
3 good posts I read this week:
As mentioned above – JohnIsFit – 9 tips for kick starting your dormant weight loss blog

Weekly Recap
Sounds like a great week to me. If you can knock out B+ weeks every week you’ll be doing just fine. Congrats on a strong week!
Hi, I found your blog on JohnIsFit’s site and am enjoying reading about your progress
I love that you have rewards set for each goal to keep you going in the right direction. And that whatever stumbles you experience on any day, you get right back up and keep going the next! I hope it’s okay if I make a suggestion that might help? It seems like there is often something tripping you up (like a beer, cookies, nachos) that’s getting in the way of reaching your calorie limits. Have you ever worked some of these things into your diet? Maybe if you allow yourself one of these every 3rd day, for instance, you’ll know it’s coming and you don’t have to deprive yourself every day? What do you think? Can’t wait to see how well you do this month! Keep up the good work and go for your goals
I too found you on John’s blog and your style works well. Keep up the good work and know that there are alot of us pulling for anyone that is trying.
Thank you so much for your comment! And then your mention of my blog on yours was spectacular!! I’m already seeing more traffic, and it’s keeping me motivated and accountable. I’ve been down with a cold for a couple days, but I think I’m finally getting back up to speed. Thanks again!
Hi Laurie! Thanks so much for the comment and for reading through my blog. It’s so great to realize I’m not just writing to myself and my two friends who are also trying to loose weight. I like your suggestion of incorporating some of my temptations into my diet plan. I had planned to give myself every Sunday “off” to eat and drink whatever I want, but sometimes it’s hard to wait for that treat when I’m craving it on Monday afternoon.
It’s hard to build in treats in a 1200 cal a day plan, but if I give myself some extra every 3rd day, that could be a really smart way to incorporate my temptations. Thanks for the suggestion and for posting!!
Thanks for the comment!! It’s so great to know people are out there checking up on what I write.
Accountability is a key for me! thanks!!
